Using ym only my first/last name or my email addy display in the im window, i want to use my id only.. how?

i looked up the other answers.. none of them worked. i tried to delete the email profile, marked the profile as inactive, edited the 3name areas in the contact information.. i still see either my name or email in the im window. i do not want this for privacy reasons. how can i fix it? i have an sbc account so my main email and connections are through yahoo.

click on Messenger


select My Contact Details


at the top is Name: followed by


First (Name)


Last (Name)


Nickname





if they are not, then your real first and last names can / will be extracted from your account details (form filled out at signup).

Once there...


1.Ignore the first instance of your Names, scroll down the page until you see Address / Contact Information, click Edit...


2. now at the top of the page should be Your Name, edit both fields


3. hit Finished, if prompted, then confirm your password, you will be redirected back to your Yahoo! Account Information page where you can see the changes, if you're happy with the results, click Finish again, then exit out of your browser and log back into Yahoo! Messenger.





please be aware the above will not impact on ppl who already have you on their friends list / address book, they will need to delete you from both then re-add you to remove your name etc, or you could try sending them your contact details via Yahoo Messenger, this also applies if you have added yourself to your friends list :)
Reply:The only thing I can think of is to go to your mail. Options%26gt; account information %26gt;public information %26gt;edit there you can change the name. Hope it will work.
Reply:Did you go to Messenger, click on Messenger tab, then My Contact Details and put name you want to show in the box where it says nickname. Good luck.
