I got an email from a guy in s.africa who needs to send me $10M, however he wants me to send $20k first...?

...for administration purposes.

Now he is from the Oil Sector, and that industry does have that kind of money, so do you think I'd be 'covering all my bases' if I just sent half the amount to begin with?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

send $40k to show good faith. if you don't hear from him in a week or two, send $40k more.
Reply:There are a number of scams relating to a get rich scheme. Many are for money and others for ID thief. Unless you can get cross verification, I would not send a dime.

More interesting, is how did know you could afford that amount of money.

Second, if you are getting that amount, why do you need to send that amount of money to cut a check? Fees come into pay when depositing.
Reply:Hopefully you are kidding. These things go out every day to millions of people. It is 100% scam.

There are cafe's of people who sit around all day trying to find people who want to make a quick buck.

You will lose whatever you send to them. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is. But on the upside, you could learn a very valuable lesson for $20k. That lesson would be that there are people out in the world who will take advantage of you.
Reply:You don't actually believe you're going to get 10 million dollars, do you? The only thing that will happen is you will be out 20 thousand dollars.

This is a scam that's been going on for several years. Don't fall for it. Remember the old saying, "if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is."

Google "Nigerian scam" and "advanced fee fraud."

Never deal with these people. Never give out any personal information unless you initiate the contact and you are 100% sure who you're communicating with. Don't do it!
Reply:type ...... nigerian scam ....... in to your web browser ...........there you will see what he is up 2 .the nigerian scam 194 .I think its called is the most succesfull internet scam of all time , these crooks have made millions from fools
Reply:Where have you been? This is one of the biggest scams in the world. If you respond to this stuff, you deserve to loose everything you have, because you will be loosing it.
Reply:right, so u have to send money to an individual (not the firm) despite them owing you money?

like the 1st guy, i think this is the nigerian scam
Reply:Scam, scam, scam!! Do not send a penny, just delete it and move on with life.
Reply:scam alert!

I get a lot of those and delete them.
Reply:I've heard of these people with their ideas. Don't do it, it's only a SCAM to get money from another person!
